The University of Antwerp has about 20,000 students, which makes it the third largest university in Flanders. 16% of our student population comes from abroad to study Master, advanced Master and PhD programmes taught in English.

UAntwerp is characterised by its high standards in education, internationally competitive research and entrepreneurial approach. We have 9 campuses spread across the city of Antwerp. The University of Antwerp is an international university, with students from all over the world. The University participates in several European education programmes, is a member of the prestigious Utrecht Network and has established partnerships with many universities around the world. International student facilities include: Language courses, study advice and student counselling service, state of the art computers and internet access, 7 modern libraries, housing service, sports and culture activities. At the beginning of each academic year all international degree students attend the Welcome Week to discover the university and life as a student in Antwerp. Some facts and figures: 20,367 students (16% from abroad, 116 nationalities) 29 Master and post graduate programmes taught in English 1,741 PhD students 3,650 scientific publications each year 5,398 staff members (17% from abroad, 88 nationalities) 648 professors (12%) 3,077 researchers (57%) 9 campuses in Antwerp 13th in the QS University Ranking Top 50 under 50 (2015) 11th in the Times Higher Education Ranking 150 under 50 (2016) The University of Antwerp has institutional and faculty partnership agreements with partners all over the world: universities, research institutions, academies and university colleges. Besides these, the university also has several bilateral agreements with European partners regarding exchange opportunities for students and lecturers on the Erasmus programme. The University of Antwerp has established partnerships in India with the following universities. This covers student and staff mobility, as well as research cooperation. 1. You already have a first degree and are looking for further opportunities? The University of Antwerp offers various Master programmes fully in English. A prior degree of at least 3 years (a minimum of 180 ECTS credits) is a prerequisite for all Master programmes.


Your first degree? The University of Antwerp offers high quality three-year Bachelor programmes in different fields. These programmes are all taught in Dutch.


The University of Antwerp does not grant scholarships. However, the university does participate in several programmes that offer scholarships such as: VLIR-UOS: scholarships for students from developing countries: Scholarships are available for students from 54 scholarship countries in Africa, Asia and Latin-America to follow a training or master programme at the University of Antwerp. ASEM-DUO: Scholarships are available for students from China, India, South-Korea and Vietnam. Transition Fellowship Programme: Scholarships are available for students from 4 countries in transition (Brazil, Morocco, South Africa and Turkey). Mastermind: Scholarships are available for international students who want to take up a master degree programme. Global Study Awards: An individual global study award with a maximum value of £10000
