In this truly international atmosphere everyone can experience the cultural diversity of both the city and the institution.

The city of Lodz is located in the heart of Poland at a crossing point of many important European routes. Lodz is only 125 km away from Warsaw – the capital of Poland. It is the third biggest city in Poland, the city of famous filmmakers including Mr. Roman Polanski. The 38,000 students attend classes that are taught by 2,222 academic teachers, 580 of whom bear the highest academic rank. The interest in studying at the University of Lodz is determined not only by high quality of instruction, but also by modern programmes of study offered in Polish and English and adapted to the changing demands of the labour market. The University is repeatedly ranked amongst the top higher education institutions in Poland, and it especially excels in such fields of study as management, political studies, economics and law.

UL is one of only four Polish Universities which gains a place in the QS World University Rankings. The University treats international cooperation as a way to foster its development and takes part in many international research and exchange projects (including Erasmus+). The institution regularly hosts guest speakers, renowned politicians, businessmen and cultural representatives from Poland and abroad. In 2015 UL celebrated its 70th anniversary with the guest of honour – a renowned writer Umberto Eco who received his DHC from the University. The University is proud of its international atmosphere and pleased to offer many exchange possibilities with scholarships for UL’s students. Recently the International Students Office has created the most innovative mobile application for our international students – SmartUni. You can download it on Android and iOS phones and learn about the University, studies, life in Lodz and life in Poland. Enjoy!
