Sports science

Sports science is the study of human movement and exercise and the associated benefits to health of sport and physical activity. Principal areas of study include nutrition, exercise and sports physiology, biomechanics, motor control and learning, conditioning, and anatomy. Many European Universities and other Higher Education Institutes offer English-taught courses in this subject at both undergraduate and Master’s level. In Germany the University of Konstanz has an MA in International Studies in Sports Sciences. Whilst the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, Norway offers a two-year English-taught MSc degree in Exercise Physiology, with no tuition fees - although international students have to prove that they can cover living costs before they can obtain a student visa for Norway. In Finland the University of Jyvaskyla offers an English-taught 2 years MSc in Sport and Exercise Psychology; and Birmingham University in the UK offers a well known MSc in Exercise and Sports Science, as does Middlesex University, and Leeds Becket University.
