Sociology

Europe is one of the strongest regions to study Sociology and according to the QS World University Rankings 2016 it has three of the world’s top ten universities for this subject – the University of Oxford (3), the London School of Economics (4) and the University of Cambridge (8).

Outside of the UK, several continental universities make the World’s top 50 including the University of Amsterdam in The Netherlands (14), Frei Universitat Berlin (22) and Humboldt Universitat Zu Berlin (25) in Germany, Utrecht University (41) in The Netherlands, Universite Paris-Sorbonne (47)  in France, the University of Copenhagen in Denmark (47), and Stockholm University (49) in Sweden.

EHEVF 2016 participant Sciences Po in Paris France also makes the World Top 50, and the University of Bristol in the UK makes the Top 100. The former offers a 2 year masters in Sociology which provides a foundation in theory and methodology and allows for intense study in a specialist area. Whereas the University of Bristol offers several taught Masters as well as undergraduate study in this discipline in its school of Sociology, Politics and International Studies.
